Hurricane Irene

The time is 12:40am in Brooklyn, NY and we're currently waiting for Hurricane Irene to make her appearance. Right now its pretty rainy and the wind is picking up. I had to move my chairs from off my balcony because one of them already slammed into my door. I should have brought them inside anyway but just hearing the slam on the glass was a reminder.

They expect the worst of the storm to hit early on Sunday morning.

To everyone affected by the storm, please stay safe.

Pandas and Deers and Bears Oh My......

I made this little pouch using this cute fabric that I purchased on etsy. One side of it has the animals named in my post title but the other side has some cute little elephants and a black cat.

I would like to have an etsy shop selling my pouches but I feel like its already saturated with so many of those types of shops that I would just get buried. I have to come up with some sort of idea but any suggestions would be helpful.

The inside of the pouch is lined with a lightweight polka dot canvas material.

Sanrio Purchase

I bought this cute little set from the Sanrio Store while I was in California. The store was located on Hollywood Blvd inside a mall that I don't remember the name of. Anyhoo, I think its so adorable that I almost don't want to use it.

It comes with a mini sized stapler, staples, hole punch and tape.

Mini Pouches WIP

I'm currently in one of my sewing moods, so I yesterday I decided to cut up some fabric for some mini pouches that I intend on sewing together. These particular pouches are very small in size (5 x 3.5 inches)  and are very quick and easy to stitch up. I used colored metal snaps to close them up.

These are a couple that I've made previously:

And these are the fabrics that I intend on using for my next two, all cut and ready to sew:

I'll upload more pictures when these two are complete!!

Mmmmm Cupcakes.....

Amongst other crafts that I indulge in, I thoroughly enjoy baking. I'm constantly cruising the net reading foodie blogs and such. I'm no pro, but I enjoy giving it a shot.

Cupcakes are what my daughter enjoys making the most. Everything usually goes pretty smoothly until it comes time to frost them. I bought a Wilton Desert Decorator Plus and it works like a charm, but I always feel like I'm cheating.

I stumbled upon this awesome tutorial in my blog roll from Glory at Glorious Treats. Her blog is awesome and the pictures of her treats that she makes are visually stimulating.  She made a short video showing how to properly frost a cupcake. I can't wait to give it a try.

Check out her post here.

My Trip To L.A

Last month, we took a family trip to L.A.  It was absolutely amazing. It has such a different vibe from New York and I would definitely like to go back before the year is out. One of the highlights of my trip was seeing the Flynt Productions building. I love the movie The People vs. Larry Flynt and just seeing that building in real life was amazeballs.

You can see it the brown building in the back of the picture. I drove right by it, but my phone died and I didn't get to take another pic.

Another highlight was the Universal Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood. It features a tour of the backlot where they film all types of  movies and shows (like Desperate Housewives which was filming as we were driving through), and a King Kong 3D ride. Worth Every Penny. Here's a couple of pictures of the set from War Of The Worlds.

That's a picture of a plane after it "crashed"
And last but not least, the Fabulous Beverly Hills.....

Rodeo Drive was filled with all the glitz and glamour that you see on TV. We drove through it probably like three times but didn't dare get out of the car. I didn't want to embarrass myself lol.

My Blog Template

I loooooove my new blogger template. It was designed by an etsy seller named Alicia from Dreamlike Magic Designs. I always go to her when I need designs for my Etsy shop and she always comes through with nothing but excellence. Check out her shop here.

Here We Go Again.....

So I think this is the third blog that I have started and I am determined to actually keep this one going. I always start a blog and then get tired of taking pictures and uploading them and writing and blah blah blah. I'm not very vocal in real life, but I'll try to be vocal in my blog. I'll try to take one day out of the week to probably create and then schedule my posts. Maybe that will help me keep up. I'm going to dedicate this blog to all my crafty adventures and anything else that I feel is interesting that takes my fancy.

So please stick around and I hope you enjoy!!
